Things to do in Poole

Poole Guildhall is one of the town's most well known landmarks. Dating back to the 18th century, this historic building is Grade II listed and situated in the heart of Poole's old town.

It reopened its doors to the public in 2007 as Poole's Register Office following a major restoration project to bring it back to its former glory and now provides a venue for civic ceremonies, weddings and civil partnerships.

In the past it has had many uses including a parish church, magistrate's court and as a meeting point for American soldiers during the Second Worlds War.

One of the most popular attractions in the town is the Bournemouth Oceanarium, a fantastic all weather family day out. This award winning Oceanarium is conveniently situated next to Bournemouth Pier on the beach front and just five minutes walk from the town centre.

Play 'Solo', 'All against all', and the 'Team' games in purpose built arena with castle towers, turrets, ramps, mazes, swirling fog and state of the art sound and lighting effects. Open seven days a week and suitable for 6yrs and up.

A superb 1/10th scale Model Town capturing the essence of a typical Market Town of Rural England during the 1950's and an interactive Hornby Model Trains and Tram working layout. Open daily from 24th March - 29th October. Facilities include Tea Rooms and Gift Shop.

The museum features exhibits from the local area from prehistoric times to the present day. It also has a collection dedicated to the life of Lawrence of Arabia

The church of St Cuthburga, Winborne Minster dates back over 1300 years. The current church is mostly Norman in origin although there are Saxon and Gothic features. Features include chained library, an astronomical clock and tombs of Wessex kings
